Is this window offensive?

A local clothing store in the center of the Old City in Maastricht posted this window t highlight their selection of winter clothing.  It’s aroused a lot of comment, some think it’s a harmless bit of humor, others that its an offensive bit of public graffiti

Coming off of a reflection on tolerance last week, and with plans to write about realism in art tomorrow, this is a good bridge piece.  How does it make you feel?

I read this the other day when you posted it, but held off commenting, preferring to give myself time to consider more positions. But in the end, I think it's a lot of fuss about nothing. I just don't find it that offensive. I know there are people who will say, "but think about the children!" but I figure they're going to come across the word soon enough if they haven't already, and there are so many other things to truly be concerned about. I'm pretty sure watching the nightly news was more disturbing to me as a young child than any language like this could have been.

Thanks Alison, I really agree. I was surprised that several Dutch friends complained, though.

From someone in Seattle, I thought it was hilarious. I wish more stores around here displayed their real sense of humor.
