Still on the road....

A week of scientific conferences in Italy have finally ended: the last few days have been on a hilltop in Bertinoro for the annual STAFF Symposium. The setting is spectacular; it's a university conference center in a walled fortress above the town of Bertinoro. There was a side trip to see the mosaics in Ravenna, and the Adriatic Seas is visible off to the east.

It would be a good day to be on the beach if it wasn't raining. The food is wonderful and I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend to digest all of the ideas presented.

'headed south towards Naples for a Monday meeting, with intermittant Internet. Lots to see, and lots to share on my return.

Blogging from Bologna

DSC00548 Stitch

I'm attending the 2008 Computers in Cardiology conference in Bologna this week, a yearly gathering of researchers and engineers to explore ways to extract more information from the electrocardiograph (ECG).  It's much more fun than it sounds, especially when the venue is Balogna, Italy. It's my first time here, and it's been wonderful to explore the architecture, food, and history.

A few pictures to give a flavor of the city:
